Father Of Surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, Gets Google Doodle

Duke Kahanamoku Google Logo

Today on Google.com is a special Google logo, aka Google Doodle, for the father of surfing, Duke Kahanamoku.

He was born on August 24, 1890 in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii and died at the age of 77 on January 22, 1968. He was an Olympic gold medalists in swimming but was credited for making surfing into a real sport.

In 1912 while in Southern California he made surfing popular in America. He was in the surfing hall of fame.
